๐ฟ Finding Silence in a Noisy World
There’s a strange kind of irony in how connected we are today.
At any given moment, I can message a friend across the world, check the temperature in Iceland, or watch someone cook dinner in Tokyo. And yet, it feels like silence โ real silence โ has become rare.
The other day, my phone battery died while I was on a train. No music, no scrolling, no notifications. Just the rhythmic clatter of wheels and the occasional murmur of conversation. At first, I felt restless. But then something unexpected happened โ my thoughts slowed down.
I started noticing little things: the pattern on the seat fabric, a child pointing out clouds to her mother, the way sunlight flickered through the trees outside the window. It wasn’t profound. It was just peaceful.
We often chase productivity and stimulation, filling every spare moment with noise. But silence โ uncomfortable as it may feel at first โ is where our minds reset. It’s where creativity hides, waiting for us to notice it.
So here’s a small challenge:
Leave your phone at home the next time you go for a walk. No music, no podcasts. Just you and your thoughts. You might be surprised by how loud the quiet can be โ and how refreshing it feels once you get used to it.
